You are the point of contact for questions from the public administration, courts and private service providers on the law of the Central and Eastern European countries, the Central Asian states and Russia. Working at the interface between academic and practical comparative law, you will support the Institute in providing its services, prepare expert opinions and conduct research.
Your tasks
- drafting and coordinating legal opinions independently or as part of a team
- investigating and establishing the law in the assigned countries
- conducting research in one of the Institute's core areas (private international law, comparative law, international business law)
- contributing to academic conferences and Institute publications
- expanding and cultivating contacts with lawyers in the assigned region (Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia)
Your profile
- Lawyer's practising certificate (or equivalent practical experience) from one of the states in the assigned region, as well as ability to find and analyse current case law in that region.
- Publications on private international law, comparative law or international business law
- Knowledge of private international law and family law
- Contacts with lawyers working in the region for which you are responsible
- Knowledge of Russian, good knowledge of English and knowledge of at least one Swiss official language

The position is limited to a maximum of three years and is an ideal stepping stone for continuing an academic career or securing employment in a law firm.
